Our Products
We work with our supply partners and their manufacturing facilities, to uphold ethical standards that reflect shared values. We believe in equality and value, for our customers and those who supply the products we import. That’s why high expectations are set for manufacturing facilities with our Ethical Sourcing Code of Conduct.
-
We work with a global network of manufacturing facilities to import quality products. To ensure the products are produced in a socially responsible manner, supply partners must commit to our Ethical Sourcing Code of Conduct. This sets expectations for workplace issues like child and forced labor, discrimination, discipline and abuse, collective bargaining, working hours, wages, and workplace health/safety.
-
All manufacturing facilities are required to have a written food defense plan, including shipping security and oversight and must undergo a security audit conducted by a third party. These audits assess the security of the manufacturing facilities, the packaged goods, and the loading of containers for shipping. If violations are discovered, facilities are required to make the improvements.
-
The intent of the program is to have supply partners comply with our Code, but also to assist in developing their own processes to improve the overall quality and well-being of employees and the integrity of their products. It's expected that facilities adhere to the environmental standards and laws of their country, abide by anti-corruption laws, avoid conflicts of interest, and comply with our policies.
Our Planet
We’re committed to supporting efforts worldwide that bring help and hope to those in need. Our business revolves around relationships with customers, supply partners and employees globally. “Going Green” is an important phrase because it represents our commitment to taking eco-conscious steps when it comes to designing and operating facilities, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, and more.
-
At iTi Tropicals, we’re committed to making donations to the communities where we live and work. We recognize the needs within those communities and strive to help those in need. We also make annual contributions to local homeless shelters, food banks and to the American Red Cross.
-
iTi has Energy Star® rated corporate office buildings with an 89% efficiency score, meaning that we are more energy efficient than 89% of like corporations in the region. We’ve implemented solutions so our offices run in a sustainable manner. Solutions include: reducing energy consumption, conserving land, recycling, water filtration systems, and limiting paper waste.
-
We encourage our customers to purchase concentrated products which decreases the number of containers shipped from our suppliers, thus reducing our carbon footprint and food miles. When possible, we encourage our manufacturing facilities to “floor load” the shipping containers, eliminating the use of wooden and plastic pallets, maximizing the shipping space in the container. This, too, reduces the carbon footprint and food miles.
-
Looking ahead, we plan to do more by engaging with employees, manufacturing facilities, customers, and communities to find a path towards a greener future. We’re working with our manufacturing facilities to implement Regenerative Agricultural practices to revitalize the soil. The farmers and plantations are implementing practices like composting, intercropping, no tilling and livestock integration.
